Methods to Check accuracy of the Ascendant (Birth Time Rectification techniques)
The rising sign (the word 'Sign' is the English equivalent of Rasi) is the Lagna Rasi, also known as the ascendant. We've already discussed how to construct a birth chart in relation to the Lagna but to calculate the Ascendant, we must rely on birth data, which may or may not be accurate for a variety of reasons.
So, before making any predictions about the native, an astrologer should check the accuracy of the Lagna position in the birth chart. There are several methods for determining whether Lagna is right.
- The Lagna may fall where Chandra is, or in the 5th or 9th house from Chandra's position, or in the 5th or 9th house from Chandra's location, according to Sasthidas (i.e. the lord of the Rasi where Chandra is placed).
- Calculate the 7th Nakshatra from the Nakshatra associated with Ravi if a person is born in the first part of the day. The Rasi suggested that Nakshatra would come under the influence of Lagna.
- Please keep in mind that each Rasi is made up of two and a quarter Nakshatras.
- Calculate the 12th Nakshatra from Ravi's Nakshatra if a person is born in the second part of the day. His Lagna Rasi will be the Rasi indicated by the Nakshatra.
- The Lagna Rasi is determined by the 17th Nakshatra from Ravi's Nakshatra if a person is born in the first half of the night.
- If a child is born after midnight, or in the second half of the night. Lagna-Rasi will fall in the 24th Nakshatra from Ravi's Nakshatra. Purvashada, the 24th Nakshatra from Satavisha, denotes Dhanu Rasi. In the case of Harihar Majumdar (Jyotishasastri), the author of Hindu Science of the Future, his birthtime was at 2 A.M, which is after midnight, Ravi is linked with Satavisha in the horoscope, and the Lagna is in Dhanu.
Difference of Opinion about birth time rectification
On a few topics, several prominent astrologers have differing viewpoints. The following are the details:
Count 12 Nakshatra to determine Lagna Rasi if a person is born after midday and within sunset from Ravi's constellation. If a person is born before midnight, the 19th Nakshatra will be the Lagna, and if they are born after midnight, the 24th Nakshatra from the constellation linked with Ravi will be the Lagna. These guidelines are really useful in more than 60% of instances.
There are also additional issues to consider. We all know that some Nakshatras fall into two Rasis. In such circumstances, real Lagna Rasi is impossible to discover.
Some other methods to rectify birth time
- If Rahu's aspect falls on the Lagna or Chandra, the native may appear thin and dry, with a dry skin texture and little radiance.
- The native may be well-built, robust, and sturdy if Mangat aspects Lagna or Chandra (especially Lagna).
- If it is Sukra, he is amiable and phlegmatic, with huge attractive eyes, curling hair, and an elegant look.
- If Sani is aspecting the Lagna or Chandra, or if he is placed in the Lagna or is connected with Chandra, the native will be slender and skinny, with deep eyes and no fat on his body.
- Ravi represents a robust body; if he aspects or conjoins with the Lagna, the native will have a strong physique, a bald head, a dignified walk, and a sombre demeanour.
- If Chandra is linked with or aspects the Lagna, the person will have a magnificent appearance, a gentle physique, and be a handsome guy with curly hair and huge round eyes.
- If Budha is linked or aspects the Lagna, the native's complexion will be greenish like Durba grass and he would be of average build.
- The planetary aspect on or relationship with the Lagna or Chandra may provide various complexion, build, and demeanour as stated previously, and by scrutinising his reading and using rational thinking, one may modify his interpretation and determine the actual Lagna Rasi.
