Sapta Rishi Nadi is a horoscope analysis based on real lives. It is a repository of astronomical and astrological knowledge. This Nadi text can be used to verify the constellations and Vimshottari Dasa acquired at a native's birth.

The Nadi text is established by the seven Rishis or Sages, as the name implies.

They are:

1. Atri
2. Agastya
3. Jaimini
4. Songinar
5. Narad
6. Vashisht
7. Vishwamitra

There are five volumes of Saptarishi Nadi.

Volume I is for Aries Ascendant.
Volume II for Taurus Ascendants and so on.

The ascendant in Chandrakala Nadi is split into 150 minutes called Nadi amshas, which are further subdivided into Vipra Kala, Kshatriya Kala, Vaishya Kala, and Shudra Kala. Saptarishi Nadi does not mention using these amshas when forecasting.

Saptarishi Nadi also provides Dasha equilibrium at birth via the Vimshottari Dasha system. The Vimshottari Dasa method was often considered general in the Saptarishi Nadi text. The Saptarishi Nadi text does not make use of Ashtottari Dasha. It also defines the environment in which the native is born, such as whether a Shiva temple, Vishnu temple, or Kali temple is nearby, whether the birth is near a well or a river, and so on. In certain ways, it also represents the native's grandfather.

It also delves further into the research by offering clues such as how many times the grandfather was married and, whether he was married more than once, from which of his wives the native's father was born. Another point that may be found in this text is whether he has any ancestral or self-earned land.

Then it explains the native's father, how many siblings he has, the gender of the siblings, how many marriages he has had, and whether or not any children have been born from them. It also determines the form of marriage the native will have, whether it will be from his own culture, on his paternal side, on his maternal side, or from outside his community. It has also been discussed in some cases whether the native will marry the daughter of his elder sister or the sister of his former wife, and so on. It also specifies whether the wife will be long-lived or short-lived and the direction from which she will arrive.

The issue of having or not having a son is also addressed in great depth in some of Nadi's text.
